Why vote Labour in Basildon, Billericay & Wickford?

We want to support key workers and build council homes

Labour councillors have launched an ambitious plan to change the council's housing strategy to ensure teachers, nurses, police officers, firefighters and other public servants are given priority in the housing queue.

Basildon Labour wants to ensure we recognise the service of Basildon public sector workers and give them a chance to own a home.

In addition to this Labour are committed to building 600 council homes in Basildon after building the first in the town for over 25 years.

We are against the Conservative congestion charge

At the start of 2018 the Conservative Government gave Basildon Council 'ministerial direction' that a congestion charge on the A127 may need to be introduced into order to reduce air pollution.

This Conservative Congestion Charge will be bad for residents, bad for business and bad for Basildon and something Labour will fight against.

We want to reduce crime

We at Basildon Labour believe in common sense politics and if the Conservatives take 20,000 police of our streets, then you are going to see an increase in crime. On top of that you have had savage cuts to youth services and savage cuts to our education system which has meant young people are under more pressure than ever.

In the last twelve months Labour in Basildon has done all it can to help reduce crime. It has saved Basildon custody suite from closing, invested in CCTV, put record amounts of funding into domestic violence prevention schemes... the list goes on!

We want to keep working hard to reduce crime in our borough and hold The Conservative Government to account for their failings however we can only do this if we have your vote on May 3rd.
