Labour’s Gavin Callaghan has visited the Langdon Nature Reserve on Lower Dunton Road where he met volunteers and toured the site with local councillor Andrew Gordon.
Speaking after the visit, Gavin said, “This is the hidden gem in Basildon. It’s acres of beautiful woodland which the volunteers are working hard to nurture. The staff have big ideas for how they can improve the site. If I’m elected as the MP, I will be working with local FE colleges to get their woodwork and construction apprentices involved in the redevelopment projects that are underway and I will work with schools to ensure their art and design departments are able to play their part in changing the reserve to make it a commercially viable public space and increase visitor footfall.
“The reserve is run almost entirely by local volunteers and they are always looking for people to come down and give them a hand, so if you have the time, please get in touch with the volunteer coordinator Chris Curran directly on firstname.lastname@example.org
