It has been announced this morning that Deputy Leader of the Basildon Labour Group and Councillor for St. Martin’s Ward has been recognised and included in the prestigious Global OUTstanding 50 LGBT+ Future Leaders, presented by the FT.

Labour Deputy Leader, David Burton-Sampson

Says David, “I am absolutely blown away and humbled by this recognition.  I have long been committed to promoting awareness, pushing change and celebrating equality within my roles at Metro Bank, Basildon Council, in Basildon Borough and the wider community. There is always more to be done, but I have been taken aback by the positive response I have received on my pursuit to help people get a better deal in life regardless of their sexuality, ethnicity, age or gender.”

Adds Baroness Angela Smith of Basildon, “In both his professional and political work David always gives 100%.  I admire his commitment to all that he does and have never known him be anything other than enthusiastic. I am delighted that he is being recognised in this way and look forward to his future achievements.”

Suki Sandhu, Founder & CEO, Involve says “Our sixth OUTstanding list is our most international and diverse ever. It features executives representing 21 countries around the world – from Ghana to Germany and from India to Israel. We’re so proud to see so many senior and future leaders recognised as role models for their work driving cultural change and creating environments where everyone can succeed. Everyone – regardless of gender, sexuality or ethnicity – benefits from a level playing field where people feel able to bring their whole selves to work.”
